R: Secure USB drive

Personally I do like TrueCrypt because it can create a single encrypted
storage file on a hard drive or even use a whole device or logical drive (of
course the fact it's free helps a lot).

TrueCrypt is exactly for this kind of thing,but you can use Symmetric 
encription like AES256 with GnuPg also.
