Re: military strike possible?

Very interesting. Government agents are still barely even trained enough in
information security to track down many of these virus and worm authors. It
takes a lot of digging just to find someone, script-kiddies included, that
launched a DoS attack against a famous site.

We are collectively having a hard enough time keeping our own home
connections and company infrastructures safe. It is very doubtful that a
military strike against an actual digital entity could take place.

Of course, assumptions are always made, anybody can push the button, so to
speak. The only thing that's sure about the future is uncertainty. A
military strike could be pitted against one lone cracker, a group of
crackers, etc.

Has anyone on the list ever played the game "Uplink" by Introversion
Software (http://introversion.co.uk) ?

In this game, two subquests deal with a massive virus/worm that's never been
seen, it's mission: Destroy the Internet.

Knowing that, and knowing the dangerously creative mind of man, who could
say that it wouldn't be possible?

I do believe that a massive Internet attack could very well take place any
day. I doubt that military action would be taken against it. Who knows,
maybe during the tribulation period, but I won't go there :o)
