"0-day" is two syllables. "unpatched vulnerability" is a lot more. And when the syllable count matters to get it into a 6 second sound bite, you *certainly* don't have time to explain the difference, or why it matters.
Only politicians should speak in soundbites - and even they *shouldn't* but feel compelled anyway, mostly because they don't have complete thoughts. There's no reason to explain a term when used correctly and consistently.
