It is very reasonable to argue that people already pay for e-mail when they pay for Internet access. At least, that's the way Internet accesses have been marketed for the last 20 years or so.And how does Goodmail change this? Senders bear all the cost, and it's a premium cost for special treatment. It doesn't change the access or treatment of anyone else's mail.
Can the user "opt out" of this "special treatment"? Or are they forced to view [by AOLs mail client] whatever the paid sender desires?
Goodmail is not a spam fighting scheme. It's not trying to be one. What it is is a way for pre-qualified senders to get their mail through to recipients without impediment and with special features for presentation to the recipient
Well, I like a little impediment and suppression of features for presentation in my email. Maybe we're focusing on the wrong end of the issue. Beacons, web bugs, and other tracking spyware are guaranteed to work in AOLs client? regardless?
