Re: Hacking into private files, my credit card purchases, personal correspondence or anything that is mine is trespassing and criminal.

Great...another flame war!

Well, at least it helps people to update their blackhole files based on
who's got the hacker mindset and who's staunchly in the Mister MacKey
"hacking is bad" camp.

I guess the pundits are right - the country, hell the world, really is
more polarized than ever.

Whilst "breaking a weak lock" is criminal on the internet and in real
life, it's also a hell of a lot easier to do on the internet, and a
hell of a lot harder to get caught.
The fact that something is illegal discourages no-one, the fact that
they may get caught and punished discourages most. The amount of laws
it is possible to break by clicking a few links is insane, and only
ever enforced if a large corporation is involved. I don't know what
you expect from this rant, but i am quite concerned that someone with
a CitiGroup (a bank?!) email address is talking about credit cards
being stolen and "weak locks".

Let's face it, even internet life is little different then what we like to
refer to as 'real life'. It all turns on trust, without trust and people
actually honoring that trust, life would be merely an animal existence.
Business is defined under trusts at all levels. A community of homes and
local small businesses all work on trust. But, let someone hide behind
the anonymity of a screen and keyboard and they are willing to shit on
the same levels of trust that they would not dare do in their 'real life'.

Perhaps the trouble all along has been; them damned hippies of the
60-70's era raised undeveloped brats. and well pay for it for a few more
decades.

Thanks,

OK, so you're a Ph.D. Just don't touch anything.
