Like a lot here, we use the Barracuda to stop most of the inbound stuff,
but use Symantec 4.6 on the Exchange box to catch anything that gets
past and also deal with the occasional one that someone introduces
locally.

Just from experience, I'd stay away from Symantec. It seems with V4
they had some issues with unscannable messages, and in V5 it got much
worse. So bad I had to back down to 4.6 otherwise I would have lost
almost the entire store due to it wanting to quarantine all unscannable
messages.

Subject: [SECURITY] Exchange Server Virus Scanning

Hi all,

We have been using Antigen 8.0 from Sybari to secure our Exchange server
2003 infrastructure. Today's issues with the Kaspersky engine
slowing/breaking mail delivery have our "powers that be" asking
questions about which product is currently the industry standard for
education.

Can I ask if anyone out there in the world of higher Ed has some
personal preferences or areas that I might look to evaluate the
benefits/costs/ and drawbacks of changing horses?

Thanks for any help you can provide.
