I am open to more detailed queries, if needed. Currently, we setup all of our accounts prior to course registration for our students. Some of our online registration tools are located within a portal we maintain for the students; Allowing this permits the students to familiarize themselves with the web interface they will be using for the rest of their term, while still being able to reference some material in regards to the ongoings within the college. At the end of each semester, we simply just revoke mailbox access and mailrouting for the students that are not registered in the following senester (give or take 2-3 weeks of a grace period). Generally, for our fall semester we maintain mail access & mail routing for the 22-25,000 registered students. However, we maintain login access to our portal and blackboard forever (currently aproximately 207,000 accounts). This is done so the students are then able to retrieve past projects, academic results, reference material, and our portal allows for access to alumni & college information, and access to their past billing & personal tax receipts. If you have any questions ... I can explain in more detail how we came to some of these decisions, and how we are currently implementing them. At the account setup is the final step in the Registration process. Is anyone setting up accounts prior to the Registration process? If so, how are you managing the accounts who, for example, don't complete the registration? Are you purging your email accounts at the end of the academic year? If so, what issues have you encountered?
