NDSU-ITS, EduTech, and NDUS present IT security conference

IT Security: A Call to Action for the Education Community, 2005 The second annual K-20 IT security conference for education and IT professionals will be held in Fargo on November 3, 2005. Sponsored by North Dakota State University (NDSU) Information Technology Services, EduTech, and the North Dakota University System, this conference will increase awareness of the associated risks of computer and network use in an academic setting with an emphasis on leadership and the end-users of technology. All educational IT leaders and IT staff, including those responsible for policy development in an academic setting, are invited to attend. Featured topics this year are information assurance; spam; spyware; wireless security; incident response/forensic investigation; and security standards, guidelines, and best practices. Conference speakers include Tracy Mitrano, Cornell University; Jack Suess, University of Maryland, Baltimore County; Dr. Kevin Streff, Dakota State University; Rick Johnson, NDSU General Counsel; Dr. Huirong Fu, Oakland University; John B. Weaver, JBW Group, Inc. (Information Security Consulting); and Troy Willet, Technology Risk Management Services. The conference will include panel discussions, information booths, and vendor visitation. The conference will be held at the Doublewood Inn and Conference Center in Fargo on November 3. The deadline for registration is October 21, 2005, and the cost is $75 per person. Wireless access will be provided. A continental breakfast, lunch buffet, and snacks are included with the registration fee.
