Web proxies (and Tor) don't and really aren't meant to 
protect information (even though you can try to). Their 
purpose is just to be more anonymous from the point of view 
of the target web server.

  That's an important point to bear in mind.  Trying to use
any of these methods to get around policies of your *origin*
network is unlikely to succeed for long.  If your origin
network has policies limiting your traffic, they will undoubtedly
log your use of proxies even if they don't block them outright.
