  Try NetStumbler on a laptop.  Expand the tree under SSIDs,
until you can see the MAC address he's using, and click on it.
You'll get a bar graph of signal strength which updates about 
every 5 seconds.
  Walk around, and see what that does to the signal strength.
You're playing "Warmer or Colder", until you're standing next
to their machine.

  [This works better with a Fluke tester, but that's more than
you want to spend right now.]
