and the client and native support for SSL makes attacks against the replicatino protocol difficult.
By being not enabled by default, and if, will have impacts on replication performance mostly isn't, data is transferred unencrypted. All authetification *is* encrypted (you can't turn that off) with a 128Bit RSA Key (BTW: only 40 Bits counted until R5.0.4 for NSA. The rest of the world had to break the whole Key). -- Thomas
