Acid/MySQL connection problem

Hi all-

Recently rebuilt a snort manager with Fedora Core III. I am using the
MySQL server that installs with Fedora. When I load up the Acid page
in my browser, I get the error:
Database ERROR:Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (13)

The file exists, MySQL is running, and I can use MySQL through the command-line.

I had this problem before, and my solution was to remove the SQL
installation that came with Fedora and compile my own from source.

What is an easier solution to this problem?

Thanks.
