What makes you think Linux is going to give you any better performance then
Windows? Big misconception here, use what you are comfortable with.

What you want to do is very possible.

Hi everyone,

My management asked me to implement snort in our
network. i am planning to install snort on linux as
sensors and want to use ACID,IDS policy manager on 
windows machine as console. We have only windows
machines. But for performance i want to use linux for
snort.

I want to confirm whether this plan works or not? Can
mysql client part on linux talk to mysql server on
windows or Any changes have to be done ? do any one 
use two different platforms for sensors and console?
