One thing that would help:  Check out Phil Wood's patches to libpcap [0].
From what's been said, there is a serious performance increase from using
it.  Other than that, I'd say make sure your NIC drivers are the most
current.

I know there are others on the list who are Snorting at those speeds, but
they may not be able to discuss it.  Anyone who can?
