How about editing the sources and compiling a special version of Snort?
It should be a piece of cake.

I did something similar with barnyard, since it used to write the
pasword of the MySQL user in cleartext to the syslog.

I love open source ;)

There is also the "-R" switch:

snort -c /etc/snort/snort.conf_eth0 -i eth0 -D -R _special

will make the

/var/run/snort_eth0_special.pid

file
