silly. the mac has had this behavior for a long time, well before os x or
even os 9. it's natural, intuitive, and probably older than mac os. (i
admit a lack of fond memories of classic OS UIs that some of you will
surely be happy to wax favorably about.)

so ... why doesn't the mac suffer this malady?

it's significantly deeper than this. yes, user interface has a lot to do
with security, but to argue it's this simple is silly.
