You can also reflash you ipaq with linux which will give you access to what Slim mentioned. I prefer kismet on an ipaq to stumbler since stumbler lacks a lot of features. Make sure to get one on the supported list with gps, it will help tons. http://www.ipaqlinux.com/ On Feb 7, 2008 5:56 AM, Stevens, Dave <StevensMD () oro doe gov> wrote:
I've got a HP ipaq "travel companion"...has the built in GPS...it is unable to run ministumbler, however wififofum works well. To be honest with you, I am not that impressed with this unit and would not highly recommend it. I want to buy a PDA that can also be used as a phone, has builtin 802.11 b/g wifi, and, importantly, has no problems running mini-stumbler. If the device also had a built in 1 or 2 megapixel camera, even better. The HP iPAQ 510 looks like it has the specs, but I can't find anyone anywhere using this particular model with mini-stumbler. Almost all ofthe Google searches I ran on mini-stumbler and iPAQs came up with older posts, i.e. 2-5 years ago. (the operating system on the iPAQ 510is Windows Mobile 6.0) I'm not set on an iPAQ, but am more interested in getting a current PDA model that someone is already running (with the above specs) and is enthusiastically happy with what they've got.Hi Paul, I've not had any luck with ministumbler on WM6. I tried ministumber on my Windows Mobile 6-based AT&T Tilt (aka 8925 aka HTC TyTN II). "Not a valid PocketPC application" was the error. This got me reading the ministumbler release notes and noticing the last release was in 2004, and it was probably hopeless. :-) However, on this HTC phone that includes an 802.11 radio and GPS... these toys seem to work very nicely together with WiFiFoFum2 to make a self contained war walking/driving tool that will log GPS locations of accesspoints if that adds any value for you: http://www.aspecto-software.com/rw/applications/wififofum/ I've not done a ton with this phone in this respect, however, and would be interested in what folks have had good luck with in terms of wireless tools for WM6. Something with a bit more functionality for pentesting would be nice to have in a pocketable device. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This list is sponsored by: Cenzic Need to secure your web apps NOW?
