Thank you all for your responses. I haven't had the time to try out your suggestions yet, unfortunately I cannot put all of my time into pen-testing (Burger King has to take precedence during the summer so I can buy books and such). I am very greatful for your responses and I will definately try to become a member of the security community, also become deeply involved as time permits in projects.
