I would say that the reason so much of the Internet is vulnerable to attacks against the routing infrastructure is because people have been treating it like voodoo. If you are worried about Breaking The Internet while learning about routing, I can assure you, the most cataclysmic routing disasters were caused by people that insisted they knew what they were doing.
