Robin,

I had done some basic AD stuff way back in 2003/2004. I took the SANS Windows Security Administrator course and
found it really covered how to do things correctly - AD, Accounts, Delegation, PKI, etc., etc.. You might take a look
at it. I even sat through the Windows Server 2008/W7 version again a couple of years ago. It was still great
content.

I'm looking to understand how it all operates rather than how to
secure it, I'd rather get a good idea of how the basics work first.
When I do do a course on how to secure it it works well to compare it
to what was taught as that gives an idea of what people learning today
are missing when they do courses so that I can exploit it later.

Jason Fossen is the author and instructor and he does a great job.

Subject: [Security Weekly] Windows networking training

Seeing as I've not done any security training this year I was thinking
of doing something on setting up Microsoft based networks as it
something I've never done beyond simply tinkering in my own lab.

I'd like to learn the basics of setting up AD, the major services and
really the basics that MS admins do on a regular basis. I did the CCNA
years ago and that was good for giving me a good grounding in Cisco
and basic IOS so looking to do the same with MS.

I need a course where I can sit in a classroom, I can't do
distance/home learning, it just doesn't suit my style, and probably
3-5 days.

I've seen the official MS course "6424: Fundamentals of Windows Server
2008 Active Directory" which is probably a bit to specific for what I
want so can anyone recommend a good all round course that I could look
at?

Robin
