identifying outbound web proxy

I've just been on a test where I came across a transparent outbound web proxy which was blocking various requests. There was nothing special in the page that had the block message to indicate a vendor so I was wondering if there were any automated tools to try to spot which product was being used. I asked on Twitter and I got a few answers offering manual processes but I was just looking for an automated way to do it. Does anyone have a tool?
