Wireless assessment app

I am curious if anyone has found any good apps for mobile devices for wifi
testing?  I have been told that all of the iPhone apps don't detect
networks with hidden SSIDs; has anyone found any contrary evidence? I am
looking for a simple solution, not a dedicated device.
