If you don't mind installing a webapp, check out Gregarius 
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/gregarius/)

I've used this before for CIRT teams, etc.. where we wanted to pull a 
load of RSS feeds, and then generate custom feeds based on keywords.

(i.e., 500 feeds go in, one feed with all articles mentioning 'Cisco' 
come out).

as far as personal newsreading goes, I've become a huge fan of Pulse 
(www.pulse.me).. It supports RSS, extracting articles from your twitter 
feed, and has a great mobile app too.
