Re: Indian Phone Scammers

If the person on the other end of the call was understandable, or could ad
lib off script, I could see it being effective. In this case, they have to
find someone both gullible and patient as hell waiting for the scammer to
get to the point.

Thanks,
Adrian

Yes, people fall for this. If they didn't, attackers wouldn't do it.

We tend to forget that both people like ourselves and the
stereotypical "stupid user" are at the *far* ends of a very wide
spectrum. Any attack that works anywhere on the spectrum is viable, it
just comes down to cost of launch vs likelihood of and magnitude of
reward. The fact that bereavement scams are still viable indicates
just how many people there are out there being taken advantage of.

Other than the other side being hard to hear, this is good.
These guys are idiots... do people really fall for this crap? I should
start answering these "unknow" calls and recording them.

Got one of the calls recorded, but they hung up on me once they figured
out I was "tech savvy". How do these guys make any money? I can't
imagine even a tech illiterate person being patient enough to hang on
the line.
