For the record, I totally agree with you. OSCP is an impressive cert.
Unfortunately, sometimes it's about those checkboxes.

    CEH meets the gov't DoD 8570 requirement. It's in the matrix along with
    CISSP, but it's faster to knock out. So if you're going to do
    contracting work, then it isn't a bad one to get. Most certifications
    are simply about having the right ticket to get punched for the HR train
    anyway.
