I think really should have anti-virus if you deal with Windows users, especially if send/receive files from them. If anything, just to scan attachments for Windows viruses before passing them on to Windows users. I run ClamXav, I only have it actively monitor a few folders, like safari/firefox folders, temp folders, Downloads.. things like that. I never notice a performance hit so I leave it running. it seems like a constant war, last I heard Apple's official stance is they do not recommend not running anti-virus :) On Tue, Nov 2, 2010 at 5:21 PM, Sven Aluoor <aluoor () gmail com> wrote:
Hi folks there are several vendors who offer anti-virus products for Mac OS X. That are the same, well-known vendors who are also in Windows world (for example Sophos, McAfee, Kaspersky). From Mac fanboys you hear something like "we don't need such crapware, because there are no viruses". What are security pros thinking? Do the anti-virus products protect against Mac specific malware/vulnerabilities? Do you recommend me an anti-virus package? cheers Sven _______________________________________________ Pauldotcom mailing list Pauldotcom () mail pauldotcom com http://mail.pauldotcom.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pauldotcom Main Web Site: http://pauldotcom.com
