do I need some sort of anti-virus suite for Mac OS X?

Hi folks

there are several vendors who offer anti-virus products for Mac OS X.
That are the same, well-known vendors who are also in Windows world
(for example Sophos, McAfee, Kaspersky). From Mac fanboys you hear
something like "we don't need such crapware, because there are no
viruses".

What are security pros thinking? Do the anti-virus products protect
against Mac specific malware/vulnerabilities?
Do you recommend me an anti-virus package?
