Netbook for travel and hacking

I just ordered the Asus eeePC 901 at ebay.
My reasons for going with the 901 are ultra mobility with a decent
configuration.
 
1) Battery life is supposed to be aswesom  ~5h in heavy use
2) Form factor: The smallest and lightest with at least 1024x600 resolution
/ 1.1 kg
3) None glare display, but without tweaking a bit dark. (Tweaking tool:
eeectl)
4) RaLink Wifi, which works at least in monitor mode. But packet injection
not yet confirmed to work
 
Pricing in Germany right now   ~270 Euros
 
Drawbacks:  Very small SSD 4GB + 8GB,  no Atheros wifi
 
The only alternative would have been the Samsung NC10 with aswesome battery
life and Atheros wireless chipset. But I skipped that because of the form
factor.

I am a little late to this discussion, but I thought I'd put in my two
coppers anyways. 

I just picked up the Eee 1000h and am quite happy with it so far. It was
under $350 at my local bestbuy after sales tax. 
The 160gb drive gives me plenty of room to dual boot. I am giving eeebuntu a
try out on it. It installed with all the drivers in place, which is good for
a Linux noob like me.

HP Mini 1000
Asus eeePC 1002HA or S101
Dell Inspiron Mini 10

All of them have at least one drawback, even if it is the price  ;-)
So, no final decision yet taken.

Maybe I'm going for some older / cheaper / smaller device e.g.
Asus eeePC 900
Dell Inspiron Mini 9

....I'll keep you posted.

Some preferences for me would be:

laptops, Asus and Dell seem to be the most popular with MSI slightly behind.
I have tested the eePC, the Wind, and the Mini 9, and my preference is the
Mini 9.

-must be dual bootable (Win / Linux [Backtrack]) The Mini 9 has the largest
Linux support community, especially with Ubuntu.

-Disk space is not so important
You can change the disk easily in most machines.

-External antenna mod and other mods musst be possible The Dell Mini 9 is
widely considered the easiest to mod, and the Mini 10 specs are similar.

Personally id say the mini 9 and mini 10 are the best options.

You can do anything you set your mind to when you have vision,
determination, and and endless supply of expendable labor.
