CCNA cert

One thing to keep in mind with GNS3 is you have to have access to the
IOS images to use it (aka SmartNet or a router you can grab images off
of). If you have them though it is quite good; I used it in all my
CCNA and CCSP exam prep. It can actually emulate a Pix as well. I've
also got documentation on setting an IDS 4215 appliance up in VMWare,
but haven't had time to try it yet.

Check out this software as well for those labs

My instructor recommended this, I haven't tried it yet but he said it
was very good.

Something I'd like to see, don't know if it exists or not, is the
ability to plug the virtual devices into a normal network in the way
you can do with virtual machines in vmware. I'm thinking of creating a
virtual Pix then putting it on the network to play with it in a real
environment.

Hello,

I would say CCNA is the basic cert required to enter in networking.
New
syllabus launched by Cisco is one of the best which gives vast
knowledge of
networking.

I recommend Todd Lammle book for CCNA - http://www.lammle.com/

Personally I would say, Study whole book & do simulators from Netsim
or
Boson. There may be many people who have passed using pass4sure. but
when
you come in Job market all you need is real experience & knowledge,
You will
never get that by reading few questions in pass4sure.

So I started a self pace study after the class. During my
preparation I
used pass4sure / testking material to get a better feeling for
what's
in
the exam. But one thing for sure, you can't pass the exam if you'd
rely
solely on pas4sure etc. and if you don't know what you are talking
about.

Don't know about that, our instructor told us about pass4sure and
about a student he had who got up to one of the higher CC levels by
purely learning all the answers in pass4sure for that level.
Apparently he then went to get a job, realised that he didn't
actually
know anything and started again from scratch really learning things.

How true the story is I don't know but from what I've heard about
pass4sure the questions are either the same as the real exams or
very
close.

I wouldn't want to do it this way but some people just like getting
the
letters.
