Jie,

Thank you so much for this contribution! I'll be looking into the issues
you raised, so expect a couple more replies here. First, I want to address
the issue of the date representation in the Scan Details widget. The date
comes from time.strftime, which returns a byte string encoded under the
current locale's settings. I pushed a patch in r33860 to decode it into a
unicode object using the locale's settings, which fixes the encoding issue.

I still have a question regarding the appropriateness of the format string
we are using, "%B %d, %Y - %H:%M". In English, this looks like "December
09, 2014 - 14:31", and in zh_CN "十二月 09, 2014 - 14:31". I don't know how
culturally appropriate this format string is in every locale. It seems to
me like a better solution would be the "%c" format, which is English "Tue
09 Dec 2014 02:31:03 PM CST" and zh_CN "2014年12月09日 星期二 14时30分45秒". If that
gets to be too long, we could use "%X %x" which becomes "02:37:06 PM
12/09/2014" and "14时35分15秒 2014年12月09日". Or we could use an international
standard like RFC 3339 (ISO 8601) which would be "2014-12-09T14:35:15-06:00"

Thoughts?

Hi list,

I've finished Zenmap Chinese Mandarin(zh) translation and it works well on
my machine(both Ubuntu 14.04 x64 Desktop and Windows 7).

During my translation work, i found several problems that occurs on a
Chinese operating system:

1. Chinese date format displays not very well in Scan Details
widget,following Started on: Finished on:

2. some texts are not included in the zenmap.pot , so you can't translate
it.

I have tranlated almost all of the strings in zenmap.pot, except those
jargon ,like: IP, TCP and so on. I think that when it comes to technology
expressions, English can be more precise and concise than other languages,
maybe it's because the translation is not that good. So when i read some
developer documentations, i prefer the English(original) version, and there
are many people in non-English-speaking nations feel the same way I do.

In this case, I think Zenmap can add a language-choose button to let the
user choose which language will Zenmap use. I write a simple patch to
implement this.

Actually, what i want is when user had click the language button he wants,
Zenmap could change its language immediately, but this patch can only
change the widgets' language which start after the click. I'm reading
pygtk's documentations and try to figure out that, redraw all the widgets
maybe?

I have just begun learning Nmap's source code and still don't understand
the whole structure well. This patch, maybe useless, is just a presentation
of my idea.

Please , feel free to give any comment, you guys' suggestions are so
important to me.

Jiang Jie
