Hello All,

What would really help, IMHO, is a document describing how we
classify each device type. That document could note that we use a
broad definition of webcam.

Again, what about: http://marc.info/?l=nmap-dev&m=122847958805930&w=2

Regards,

CPE calls fora URI of the form:

cpe:/{part}:{vendor}:{product}:{version}:{update}:{edition}:{language}

Generally we don't have all of that information, or, most of it isn't
applicable. I feel like CPE has a poor signal-to-noise ratio for the
information it provides.

I could imagine XP looking something like

cpe:/o:Microsoft:Windows:5.1:2600:XP:en-us

Nearly ever Nmap user would rather see "Windows XP".
