The real question is not why isn't nmap written in C++, but why are 95% of *NIX network security tools written in C? Quick answers that have nothing to do with the strengths/weaknesses of C++: - tcpdump/libpcap is in C - nmap and friends are open source and a derivative works - most (all?) *NIX kernels, and therefore TCP/IP implementations are written in C - the Steven's books are in C - the majority of exploits are in C ..... -mdf --------------------------------------------------------------------- For help using this (nmap-dev) mailing list, send a blank email to nmap-dev-help () insecure org .
