Meterpeter Crashes

Update on my meterpreter problem.:
I have tested this nine ways to Sunday with the same results EXECPT using a Windows XP?GUI on version 3.1
which will work using the console window!!? No clue why.? Any help?

Try setting EXITFUNC to thread or process and see if that helps.? By
default the payload will generate an exception when it is finished.
