hi, msiexec shouldn't/won't run in safe mode, but do you have a dump file?
what is the stop code? also just turning off av doesn't remove the filter
driver from memory, disabling the associated services and bouncing the box
will eliminate the av from the equation...

you could also easter-egg it by running msconfig and eliminating everything
one at a time.
