Now it is directly affecting forensic investigations. Next comes ISS scanner, NAI Sniffer Pro, nmap, snort, lsof, ps, ........ the power button. Let's grow up, people.
Let's be absolutely clear on this point: the special interest groups who pushed so frenetically for the passage of the DMCA do not give two hairs off a rat's backside about security, forensics, the US Constitution, justice, fair play, society, or common decency. They are interested in one thing and one thing only: maximizing their profits. Blind, overwhelming greed drove this legislation, and nothing more. The logical endpoint for DMCA enforcement is the abolishment of any software, written documentation, or even eventually whispered conversation that might in some minute way impact the music industry's ability to control their God-given intellectual property rights absolutely. Face it, this isn't so much legislation as it is authoritarian dictation. The Rule of Law is based on a spirit of compromise and working toward the common good. The DMCA is more like a proclamation from the emperor ordering that anyone who criticizes the State have their fingers cut off. We'd all better just get used to typing with our nubs... RGF Robert G.
