Brett,While you are correct that there are sometimes reasonable alternatives to DSL or Cable, WISPs are rarely a better choice if DSL or cable are available in your area. I used to use Sprint Broadband before DSL and cable were available in my area. I just looked up Etheric prices. They want $100/month for 2 Mb/second but I currently pay $45/month for 20 Mb/second from the cable company.-- Charley Kline From: Dave Farber [mailto:dfarber () me com] Sent: Sunday, April 11, 2010 11:02 AM To: ipSubject: [IP] Re: ISP Accused of "Hijacking" Google Search Queries and Subscribers' DNSBegin forwarded message:From: Brett Glass <brett () lariat net> Date: April 11, 2010 12:45:35 PM EDT To: dave () farber net, ip <ip () v2 listbox com>Subject: Re: [IP] Re: ISP Accused of "Hijacking" Google Search Queries and Subscribers' DNSD.V. I went looking for internet service and my _only_ choice is low-speed phone company DSL (they'll sell me higher speed, but the wiring is so cruddy that you get under 1.5 Mbps download. And this is in Redwood City -- the middle of Silicon Valley! You may not have done your research thoroughly enough, because you do have options. Many people apparently labor under the misapprehension that broadband can only be had from a telephone or cable company, when in fact WISPs are a better choice. Try, for example, Etheric Networks (http://www.etheric.net/), a WISP which covers your area.--Brett GlassArchives =
