Dave-
Am in Tokyo on business. Went to the Expo Comm Wireless 98 show today. At
the Toshiba booth are two new light and slim notebooks. Introduced in Japan
but will be available in the US starting later this year:

They are the Dynabook 3000SS and the 6000SS

My Japaneese is not very good but the specs look impressive. The 3000 is a
competitor to the Sony Vivo and the 6000 to the Sharp A100.

The 6000 weighs in at 1.79 KG, is a 266 MMX, with a 12.1 inch TFT, 4.3 GB
hard drive, 64 MB of RAM, 56 KBPS modem. It is 23.5 MM high. Nice screen
(still think the Sharp A100 is better). A4 size-297X236X23.5 MM

Price about the same as the Sharp (+/- 2400 us).

The 3000 is 257 X 199 X 19.8 MM and weighs in at 1.19 KG. A 266 or 233 MHz
Intel chip, 4.3 or 2.1 GB hard drive, 64 MB RAM (they both have the Sony
beat here), 10.4 TFT screen and a 56 KBPS modem.

No pricing available.

The 3000's keyboard is small, like the 6000 better. Both get 3.5 hours on
the internal battery or 7.5 hours on the extended one.

Nice products-nothing heard from the major US companies-wonder why- Best
regards.

Andy
