Dave,

I would strongly recommend that IP readers go to
http://www.lucent.com/liveson.
Bell Laboratories, the R&D arm of Lucent Technologies, today
announced the launch of its LIVES-ON interactive web tour, in
celebration of the 50th anniversary of the transistor. LIVES-ON, the
Lucent Innovation's Virtual Experience for Students On the Net
(http://www.lucent.com/liveson), will take users on a virtual tour of five
leading science museums from around the world. Lucent will conduct
on-line expeditions to educational sites on the Internet that best
express the same spirit of innovation that led to the creation of the
transistor.
The LIVES-ON tour guides visitors to museums across the globe to
explore the history and innovative uses of the transistor. Each
museum demonstrates a different aspect of the transistor and its
significance in our everyday lives. The LIVES-ON tour is an
invaluable resource to educators and students interested in
discovering and learning about one of the most important inventions
of the twentieth century. Visitors are invited to take the tour and
look for transistor-related information with which they can answer a
short quiz to determine how much they learned about the transistor.
In addition, the first one thousand participants will receive a free
prize. A drawing will then be held of all participants and the grand
prize winner will receive an all-expense paid trip to New York City
to visit Bell Labs.
