Tjx is now synonomous with breach. I would say their event has made
signifigant issues to their brand, reputation, and company bottom line.

and up-to-date. It is simply about Reputational risk. Reputational
risk (damage to an organization through loss of its reputation or
standing), can arise as a consequence of operational failures. Every
company understands reputational risk, particularly businesses who
regard their brand as one of their most critical assets. Google is
one
of them. They have a reputation to maintain.

On the other hand, every company understands that TJX is still in
business,
and didn't take all *that* big a hit on their stock price.

Reputational risk for computer security will start actually
*mattering* once a
well-known company takes a big enough hit on a security issue that
they end up
bankrupt. Till then, nobody *really* gives a flying #$#*& in a
rolling donut
about it.
