And as Gadi said, if its in a book, it must be true.

I know one former FBI agent that would probably say the same thing
about the CIA (and has), however, so I'm not much on defending them.
But the FBI is represented overseas as much as the CIA and then you
have the other alphabet groups that you know of, or don't have a clue
of, that must do a pretty decent job.

I especially appreciate some of the operations our special forces have
pulled off covertly - having read several accounts of such ops
pre-invasion in both Afghanistan and Iraq. Of course, some of the most
daring ops were those that were screwed by "management" (such as NOT
taking out terrorist leaders due to lawyerly advice).
