I'd love to hear about a time that it wasn't true.

In the context of this story, the people are giving up their privacy
(and to what extent they're giving it up is completely unkown) for the
"feeling" of security.

What?

You mean, it's OK for the police to use full-size man-carrying 
helicopters, but not to use cheap toy ones?

Perhaps you'd like to explain how one is an invasion of privacy and the 
other isn't?
