Why haven't they rewritten the import filters in managed code?  If
they changed the internal representation significantly (which
presumably they did, otherwise save & reload of a document in the new
format would not be an identity operation), full bug-by-bug
compatibility cannot be achieved anyway.

Or is Microsoft also prey to the Sun disease, where the operating
system group refuses to use the company's managed code platform? 8-)
