Uncertified e-mail has nothing to do with Goodmail. Such e-mail will
be delivered according to current policies just as before Goodmail.

...for now.

This is the point that DearAOL people are persistantly ignoring and
denying without basis.

While I am not as conspiracy-theorist as they appear to be, I have, far
too often, seen a company saying "no we will never do that" to reassure
a worried public and then, after a relatively short delay (a year or so
is about right) going ahead and doing "that" anyway.

I have no inside information about AOL that bears on this (none at all
as far as I can recall). But, as I do most companies, I trust AOL
about as far as I can throw them when it comes to doing the Right Thing
against short-term financial incentives.

This is not to say that any of the people from AOL, here or elsewhere,
are deliberately deceiving anyone. I'm fully prepared to believe that
they mean everything they say. I just don't trust AOL qua AOL not to
change its mind. (In fact, I almost expect it.)

This is also not to say that I see any short-term financial incentives
for AOL to reverse its stance on this matter. But I am not at all
convinced that AOL won't see any.

AOL's choice to censor opposition to its misguided proposal
I don't know what to make of this; what is AOL censoring?

If you believe the reports (which I'm not sure I do, but it's the
stance this comment is based on), the answer is: dearaol.com.
