[snip]

You seem to be forgetting that a name is just a label and, alone,
imparts no identity information.

I think we should let William Shakespeare settle this: "What's in a name? A
rose by any other name would smell as sweet" (Romeo and Juliet).

Personally it doesn't matter to me as a systems administrator what AV
vendors call a virus. I recall four names for "Mydoom" when it came out,
however we were able to apply the updates from our different AV vendors.

What matters to us is that we can get our updates quickly.

Of course, we are now at a stage where AV updates aren't enough, since even
updating hourly still leave 59 minutes of vulnerability. The speed at which
viruses are now spreading means that organisations have to have automated
patching too. Of course, whatever you do each working day is more and more
like russian roulette (except there appears to be only one EMPTY chamber).

Why do so many people who claim that that life is meaningless search for a
meaning to their lives?
