Confirmed on Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600 Service Pack 1, with IE version 6.0.2800.1106. IE froze; no reboot necessary.

Cannot reproduce your results, at least not for my definition of "freeze". Tested on WinXP Pro with all patches and IE updates provided by Windows Update. IE simply displays a blank page. CPU is not pegged, IE functions notrmally (I can open another page from there, for example.)

Ditto for me. XP Home, SP 1, IE 6.0.2800.1106. Just displays
normal "Cannot find server or DNS Error" page. No CPU load or
other apparent effect.
