I've no formal training, but have done loads of diverse upgrades and fresh
installs and did 2/3rd line support for a year... ...but I'm a wizard ;-)

Basically if you have a couple of *dedicated* weeks, then yes, read
the manual (it's all in there, somewhere), work out what you want/need,
run it past the folks you buy fw1 off (they should give you some support!),
install NT & FW1, try your ideas, re-install NT and fw1, etc..etc...

*DON'T* expect the first install to be perfect - FW1 can be very picky,
& I've seen upgrades just not work without backing up configs, blowing
the lot away, reinstalling NT & the previous version, and then installing
the new version (which == upgrade). Sometimes upgrading just doesn't
work, for instance, and you've got to install it all totally fresh and
bang in the same object & rules manually - it's not such a bad thing as
you tend to audit & rationalise at the same time.

But it's not like installing Office 2000, and never will be......

Subject: [fw-wiz] Checkpoint Question

Is it possible to install a Checkpoint firwall w/o formal training? If
so, what are some of the resources like books, etc that can be used to
do it right the first time.
Any kind of help will be highly appreciated.
thanks
