Are the vendors of client-side VPN solutions thinking about including local firewall features in their products?
Yes. You can find some reviews of VPN products at the VPN mailing list FAQ, <URL: http://kubarb.phsx.ukans.edu/~tbird/FAQ.html>. I don't remember whether it directly addresses this question, but it should.
However, I haven't found VPN vendors directly addressing the issue of a network penetration of the VPN client-side computers - am I missing something?
No, most of them are. Sometimes the feature isn't called "firewalling", but is just blocking all non-tunnelled traffic to the world [which ISTM is a better idea, since then users don't have to maintain firewalls and their policies etc.]. -- Joe Yao jsdy () cospo osis gov - Joseph S.
