Ron & AJ,

Thanks for the mention AJ. On the Blackboard AI end, the integration with the chatbot is through REST API and 3-legged
OAuth. The data isn’t stored outside the LMS (Saas or self-hosted) and travels encrypted.

Ron,

I did as well. It is real. I talked with Columbia University. They have done significant work in the student financial
services space.

We will be reusing some of the work that have done on financial aid and student accounts, specifically their questions
and intents.
We are excited to also reuse the work that was done on this same initiative by Wharton, University of Illinois, UNLV
and New Mexico State.
UIC is particularly doing some great work in and around Blackboard (and Banner) on this initiative.

For data security, I was particularly interested in how PII would be protected through redacting and masking.

Happy Friday everyone! I hope all are well and keeping safe.

I received this email and, as with all EDU partnerships sponsored by corp, was wondering about its legitimacy. Real or
fake? Is anyone participating in this endeavor?

Thanks,
Ron

Norfolk State University Team,

We are releasing Columbia University’s Student Financial Services AI/Chatbot to other colleges and universities.

Would Norfolk State University be interested in collaborating with Columbia University on this initiative?

Stay healthy,
Kate
