Re: DMCA Violation

We set our firewall to block P2P about 4 years ago, and not a single notice since. We have had a couple of complaints
from students centering around one or two PC games that use BitTorrent (or similar) libraries to download game updates.
However, the updates could be manually downloaded from the game company directly.

Luckily, we have virtually eliminated these violations by filtering on the firewall side [BitTorrent etc.]. No push
back from students at all which was surprising.

Hi all,

I have a quick question about how everyone deals with DMCA violations.

1. What position is your official DMCA contact point? (ie CIO, CISO, Director, etc?)

2. What department does the investigation and tracks back to individual? (Networking, IT security, etc)

3. Who does the policy enforcement? (Student Services, IT, Campus Security, IT Security, etc)

Thanks!
