I would suggest looking into the National Cyber League (NCL). Dan Manson at Cal Poly Pomona wrote a guest blog about
the NCL’s efforts at the high school and college level in late 2017:
https://er.educause.edu/blogs/2017/11/how-to-develop-cybersecurity-athletes.

NICE (National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education) is also a good resource:
https://www.nist.gov/itl/applied-cybersecurity/nice/about

Thank you,
Valerie

Another well known national program is the CYBERPATRIOT National Youth Education Program. The program focuses on K-12
STEM awareness and has local, regional and national cyber security competitions. Private sector corporations are
heavily involved in this program.

I think I've come across the Merit program - I'm a member of the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education K-12
working group (though shame on me not a very active member) and I've seen Merit come up many times.

When we introduced our Trojan Horse program to a local high school school in Cincinnati, out of a student population of
600, 500 students took part. They won't all suddenly decide security is for them, but for the first time we engaged
almost the entire student population in security and privacy discussions they've never had before.

As a result, we may have another two dozen Cincinnati schools interested in taking part.

Neal.

All,

Merit is currently soliciting partners for the National High School Cyber Challenge. We have run this competition in
Michigan for three years and have seen more than a thousand high schoolers participate. We will be running both a state
and national competition this year.

You can learn more at

This competition exposes students to cybersecurity as a career field, provides learning resources and culminates in a
capture the flag inside our virtual city.

I know that Cisco is also developing some cybersecurity labs for high school students.

If anyone would like to discuss, please feel free to email me directly.

Thanks!

Hey everyone, I'm new to the list and this question might be a long shot.

Anyone on the list also working on cybersecurity at the high school level?

We recently started a program with some Ohio high schools to get more creative in the way we introduce security as a
career to high school students, but with a collateral benefit of also teaching students and staff about security and
privacy.

We're looking to reach beyond Ohio with our pilot program, so any high school connections would be greatly appreciated.

We're a 501c3, there's no cost to anyone, and what we don't do is offer any more of the C's - courses, curriculum,
classes, camps etc.

Be happy to share and learn more.

Thanks

Neal.
